Wild Boar repairing
The “Porcellino” (Wild Boar) fountain is one of the symbols of Florence and it is a tradition to stroke its muzzle. As the number of tourists increases, and therefore the number of strokes, the work has markedly eroded. The Marinelli Foundry, which cast the current “Porcellino” in 1998 replacing in 2011 the 19th century version, offered to restore it. It was not possible to utilize the three-phase current necessary for the electrical welding on site, so therefore the traditional method of oxyacetylene welding was used producing excellent results.
