Armenian Cross
On commission of the Dervishian Foundation of Montreal, Canada, we have created a 1.5 m high Armenian Cross which will be placed on a base made of “Black Africa” granite one meter high, in front of a church, in the same city as the Foundation.
Initially we studied the characteristics of this ancient symbol and the symbolism of the Armenian Apostolic Church. From this study we created a wax model of about 30 cm. which we have proposed to the customer.
After approval, we have enlarged the model up to 1.5 m. and cast it.
The Cross have then been accompanied by a commemorative plaque depicting the Cross and Mount Ararat, sacred to the Armenians.

THE SCULPTURE OF EDWARD JENNER
Dr. David B. Agus M.D. of the “Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC” in Los Angeles, interested in vaccines, asked the Ferdinando Marinelli Artistic Foundry of Florence to cast two bronze copies of the sculpture “Edward Jenner vaccinating his son”, created by Giulio Monteverde and whose original plaster is kept at the Gallery of Modern Art in Genoa together with a marble copy.
It was Jenner, in fact, who first tested the smallpox vaccine on humans in 1796.
The Foundry has obtained from Doctor Francesca Serrati, director of the GAM of Genoa, the permission to mould the original in full size.
With the faithful model, the Ferdinando Marinelli Artistic Foundry began the work for the lost wax casting in bronze of the two posthumous first edition originals of the sculpture.
The waxes were obtained from the casts deriving from the model and subsequently retouched.
We then moved on to bronze casting, cleaning and chiselling of the bronze parts, which were subsequently “cold” mounted. At this point the sculpture has been patinated to give it the tone and shine desired by the customer.
