PROF. GARY RADKE OF SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY AT THE FOUNDRY
(June 2008)
8 June 2008. Pleasant visit of the Prof. Gary Radke, American famous Art Historian, to the Marinelli Foundry. The Professor is held back to study both the negative mould taken on the original monuments, and the typology of the Foundry’s work. He congratulated for the fidelity, the accuracy of the workmanship of the bronzes, and for the patina, similar to that one of the ancient Renaissance bronzes. He was particularly impressed by the David of Michelangelo in original size and the David of the Verrocchio with the identical gilding to that remained to the original one exhibited at the Museum of the Bargello in Florence.
